The monuments and buildings of France are legendary; many are icons that instantly tell you 'This is France'. Think of the Eiffel Tower, perhaps the most iconoclastic of them all, and you immediately think 'France', or 'Paris'. But there are many others, just as distinctive: the modern Millau viaduct, the ancient Pont du Gard, the many World Heritage Sites, and, of course, the many splendid chateaux.
